It’s Time to Stop Celebrating Hustle Culture

I am so tired of celebrating “hustle culture” in the workplace.

The entire foundation of “hustle culture” is capitalism exploiting and feeding upon people’s desperation and insecurities.

I understand that many people – especially women and BIPOC folks – do not have a choice when it comes to hustling to get ahead (or merely just surviving), but rather than worship the “hustle,” why not push back on the obstacles and barriers that make “hustle culture” necessary in the first place?

To be clear, we should celebrate the achievements of those who have overcome the odds, but we need to stop celebrating the unrealistic and toxic means by which “success” is measured. We must shift our focus away from glorifying the unrealistic and toxic measures of success that hustle culture perpetuates. Success should not be solely defined by excessive work hours, burnout, and sacrificing one’s well-being.

It is time to put an end to the encouragement of hustle culture in the workplace. We need to foster an environment that prioritizes work-life balance, mental health, and fair labor practices. By doing so, we can create a healthier and more inclusive workplace where individuals are valued for their contributions, rather than their ability to tirelessly grind away.

Please STOP encouraging “hustle culture” in the workplace.
